Project WILD is the nation's longest-standing wildlife education program. Utilized in classrooms across Oregon- and the world- the goal of Project WILD is to teach students how to think, not what to think. A list of up-coming Project WILD workshops follows below.

In Oregon Project WILD is co-sponsored by the 4-H Youth Development Program and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW). The contact for the 4-H program is State 4-H Specialist Virginia Bourdeau (mombear@proaxis.com). Kathy Shinn (Kathy.A.Shinn@state.or.us), Outreach Specialist, represents ODFW.

Project WILD is delivered in Oregon by the following organizations who partner with the 4-H Program and ODFW;

  • Jackson Bottom Wetlands
  • John Inskeep Environmental Learning Center
  • Oregon Forestry Education Program
  • Southern Oregon University
  • The High Desert Museum
  • The Oregon Garden
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
  • Wildlife Images Rehabilitation and Education Center

Several curricula are provided for educators and training takes place in organized Project WILD workshops:

  • Project WILD k-12 Activity Guide- 122 activities
  • Project WILD Aquatic Education Guide- 48 activities
  • Project WILD Spanish Translation Supplement
  • WILD about Elk
  • Science and Civics: Sustaining Wildlife, grades 9-12

  • Habitats, ecosystems and niches
  • Interdependence
  • Changes and adaptations
  • Biodiversity
