Washington County Demonstration Site

Vision and Mission Statements

Vision and mission statements were developed at the local level to tie local programming efforts to the central goal of Oregon Outreach demonstration sites; that is, to expand the participation of Latino children and families in educational programming that focuses on the development of knowledge, skills, and competencies that will lead to roles as participating, productive, and caring adults. The components of these vision and mission statements reflect local needs and assets and serve as the basis for the program's educational goals and objectives. The vision statement expresses the long-term ideal for the Oregon Outreach program in Washington County; the mission identifies how the vision will be achieved.

Vision

To provide environments where children and youth are nurtured and supported in ways enabling them to develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies that will lead to roles as participating, productive, and caring adults.

Mission

To use Oregon State University Extension resources in collaboration with local school districts and other educational institutions; business, religious, and Latino community leaders; local government agencies and elected officials; and parents and youth to design, implement, and evaluate culturally appropriate educational programs for Latino children and youth.
