Successful Practices

Members of the project staff have identified certain practices they believe have contributed to programming successes. These observations, based on experience accumulated as the project has progressed, were collected in group dialogue, then organized into three categories of "successful practices":

• Building partnerships/relationships with the Latino community
• Developing culturally appropriate programs for Latino youth
• Staffing factors (paid and volunteer) to consider when working with Latino audiences

Successful practices are also incorporated into an instructional table relating to Latino Cultural Values with Implications for Extension Programming. The table features traditional and generalized Latino cultural values that contrast with central themes reflected in mainstream U.S. culture. Implications are drawn for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Extension programs to Latino audiences.
