Collegiate 4-H

Oregon State University's Collegiate 4-H club began in 1929 and has a long and proud tradition at OSU. Over the years the club has participated in many different service activities but has always had strong ties with the IFYE program and Children's Farm Home. Club membership was extremely large in the fifties and sixties and at one point OSU Collegiate 4-H had it's own house and an honorary society. The club went inactive in the late eighties and was restarted in 1999. Since then, OSU Collegiate 4-H has received the Collegiate 4-H national "New Club of the Year" award in 2000, hosted the Western Regional 4-H Conference in the fall of 2002, and hosted the National Collegiate 4-H Conference in 2004.

OSU's Collegiate 4-H chapter participates in a variety of activities that vary by year with the interests of it's members. These include leadership, speaking, and other trainings for 4-H members around the state. The club also has two annual events; pumpkin carving for the children's farm home and making valentines for the veterans in our veteran's administration hospitals.

There is no previous 4-H membership required to be a part of the OSU Collegiate 4-H chapter; typically the club is split with about half of the members being 4-H alumni and half having no previous 4-H experience. There are also no major restrictions; Collegiate
4-H has members from a variety of majors and nearly every college.
