Project WILD

Horse State Fair

Job Descriptions (click here for chairperson application form)

All chairpersons must commit to at least two years of service. They will be reimbursed for mileage and $15 per day for meals. A motel room will be provided if necessary for those working more than one day.


Western Gaming Chairperson

  • Must commit to two days at State Fair (including mandatory meeting)
  • Responsible for getting all gaming equipment to arena and returning it
  • Must hang and take down reader board
  • Secure announcer for all events
  • Organize and acquire all help needed (volunteers can be signed up at the mandatory meeting)
  • Keep computer record of times for all events

Trail Chairperson

  • Must commit to four days at State Fair
  • Draw up patterns for courses
  • Bring own trail obstacles
  • Organize schedule and sign-up
  • Set up and take down course
  • Tally scores and give ribbons

Dressage Chairperson

  • Must commit to two days at State Fair
  • Get judge for dressage
  • Make up schedule for riders
  • Set up dressage arena the night before and take it down when finished
  • Organize and acquire all help needed (volunteers can be signed up at the mandatory meeting)
  • Score tests and give ribbons

Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences Chairperson

  • Make up pattern for course
  • Set up and take down course
  • Bring all your own jumps
  • Stay in arena during class to make sure things are reset correctly
