Suomen 4H - Liitto located at the Finnish 4H Federation Who is eligible? High school delegates ages 15-19 (delegates must turn 15 by the date of travel) Delegates who were selected and approved by their state coordinator. All selected delegates and at least one parent are required to attend a state orientation. What are the program dates? June 14 - July 13, 2008 (includes departure orientation in Chicago) Exact dates may change, but will remain from mid-June to mid-July What is the program fee? $1,300 plus the cost of roundtrip airfare from home state to Helsinki via Chicago What is included in the program fee? Round trip airfare from home state to Helsinki via Chicago One or two-day group orientation in Chicago Medical and accidental insurance All meals Four-week homestay with rural family in Finland Transportation from Helsinki to/from host family residence Orientation materials, passport holder, luggage tags, etc. What is the maximum group size? 15 participants When is the application deadline? January 7, 2008 Forms Materials due January 7, 2008 Participant Application, Essay and Photo Code of Conduct Participant Reference (two references; One reference from the County 4-H Agent and one from a non-relative adult such as a teacher or guidance counselor. If the agent does not know the applicant well enough, the applicant must schedule an interiew with the agent.) Insurance Agreement Medical Release Form Deposit: $350 check payable to WorldWise Applications must be sent to the State 4-H Office postmarked by January 7, 2008. Late applications will not be accepted. Mail completed applications to: Lillian Larwood, 4-H Youth Development Education, 105 Ballard Extension Hall, Corvallis, OR 97331-3608 After applications have been processed, each applicant will be contacted to schedule an interview. Two people from the state staff will interview each applicant. The interview will take place over the phone, at the County Extension Office, as a conference call. Applicants will be asked why they want to go to the country they have selected, what they hope to learn, how they plan to prepare for the trip, and other questions deemed appropriate by the state coordinator. The student and the agent or county coordinator must be present for this interview. Parents are not permitted in the room during the interview. Interviews will be held the week of January 14, 2008. After the interview, applicants will be notified no later than January 22 if they have been selected to participate in the program. Successful applicants will then receive the following material to complete and return. This material will be due by February 1: medical form Additional needed material and due dates: copy of passport—as soon as you receive it Payment in full—according to the announced schedule 4-H Finland Information for the 2008 Outbound Program (for chaperone only) 2008 Outbound Program (US delegation to Finland) Who is the abroad hosting organization?
