Upcoming Master 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Trainings

The Oregon 4-H Youth Development Program recognizes and supports the following shooting sports disciplines: Archery, Muzzle Loading, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Hunting Skills, and Western Heritage Project. To lead a Shooting Sports club, adults must complete the Master 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Training for the chosen discipline(s).

The Master 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Training provides leaders with information on:

  1. Age appropriate equipment and activities
  2. Risk management
  3. Equipment storage requirements
  4. Teaching skills for classroom and range

All equipment and materials for the workshop are provided. Safety is a primary concern.

The Master 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Training will provide leaders with information on:

  1. Age appropriate equipment and activities
  2. Risk management
  3. Equipment storage requirements
  4. Teaching skills for classroom and range

All equipment and materials for the workshop will be provided.  Safety will be a primary concern.

Option 1: Full time attendance is required at a twelve (12) hour track to complete the Oregon 4-H Master Shooting Sports Leader Training Program in one of the following disciplines:  Archery, Muzzleloading, Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun.

Option 2: Eight (8) hour discipline track for those 4-H Volunteer Leaders having received prior State 4-H Shooting Sports training (2015, 2016) for qualification to lead an additional discipline.

Option 3: Twelve (12) hour Oregon 4-H Western Heritage training for those 4-H Volunteer Leaders having last received State 4-H Shooting Sports training prior to 2015. You must be an enrolled leader in Archery, Muzzleloading, Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun.

 Option 4: Eight (8) hour track to complete Oregon 4-H Western Heritage Discipline Only (Sunday) for those 4-H Volunteer Leaders having received prior State 4-H Shooting Sports training (2015, 2016) for qualification to lead an additional discipline.

Option 5: Full time attendance for entire training:  Friday evening through Sunday [includes one Saturday discipline track and entire Oregon 4-H Western Heritage (Western Action Shooting) Leader Training].

Minimum Specific Discipline Class Size:

In order for a specific discipline training to be offered, there must be a minimum of 4 participants.

Training Location:

The evening trainings will begin Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8 at 6:00 pm at the Mt. Jefferson Archery and Pistol Association (RAPA) 2209 NW Clackamas Dr., Madras, Oregon 97741. Saturday evening & Sunday discipline classes location are still to be determined.

Lodging and Meals:

Participants are responsible for their own lodging and meals, not specified in the schedule above. Participants may provide their own additional snacks and/or beverages.
