Oregon 4-H Conference and Education Center

Introduction

The Oregon 4-H Conference and Education Center:

  • Is a living laboratory for natural science education,
  • Serves as a year-round meeting place for adults and youth,
  • Is a natural meeting place,
  • Contains more than 300 acres of mixed forests, meadows and ponds.

The property was acquired by the Oregon 4-H Foundation in 1968. It was purchased from Ivan Stewart and is used to help extend the 4-H mission of helping young people become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. It has been offering educational camping and conferencing services since 1968.

Location

The Oregon 4-H Conference and Education Center is located in the Eola Hills about 8 miles northwest of Salem.

Parking

Space for parking is in the main parking area near the dining room.

Capacities

Small meeting room for 12-16 persons. Read more lodging on the Facilities page.

Learning Shelters

There are nine learning shelters scattered throughout the Center. They provide space for educational program or shelter from the weather for campers.

Staff

The Center has five full staff members and a number of seasonal, part time staff.

Volunteers are also important for the Center. An Advisory Committee, responsible for planning and development of the Center needs members. Other volunteers can help with the maintenance and development of facilities.
