4-H Foundation

Mission

The Oregon 4-H Foundation is a non-profit educational organization, 501(c)(3). It provides financial assistance to 4-H youth programs in Oregon from private sources.

In the last five years, the Oregon 4-H Foundation has provided more than three million dollars to enhance Oregon 4-H educational activities. 4-H members, volunteer leaders, clubs, county and statewide programs have all benefited from Foundation support.

The Oregon 4-H Foundation owns and operates the Oregon 4-H Conference and Education Center. The Center is a special place where young people can meet to create lasting memories and friendships.

The Oregon 4-H Foundation was incorporated in July of 1957, to provide financial support for the 4-H program from private sources, with a 9-member board.

Presently, the Foundation has a board of up to 30 trustees who solicit, receive and administer private contributions to 4-H programs. The Board of Trustees is responsible to conduct the business and control the property of this foundation. An Executive Committee of 8-10 members is responsible for the day to day operations of the Foundation. The Oregon 4-H State Program Leader is an ex-officio member of the Board and Executive Committee.

The Foundation has two standing committees to help in management of the Foundation - 4-H Board of Directors for the 4-H Center and Long Range Planning/Nominations. Committee membership includes both trustees and non-trustees. Ad hoc committees are appointed as needed.

In 1990, the 4-H Foundation became an Associate of the OSU Foundation. The OSU Foundation manages the donated funds and provides legal, accounting, bookkeeping, data management and trust administrative services to the 4-H Foundation. At present, the endowment accounts of the 4-H Foundation is over $4,000,000 with endowments for both county and statewide programs.

Publications

The Oregon 4-H Foundation publishes a newsletter, Cornerstone, that is sent to Friends of 4-H three times a year. It reports both information about the Foundation activities and what is happening in 4-H programming on both the state and county levels.

The Foundation also publishes an Annual Report that describes how gifts to the Foundation support the 4-H program in Oregon.
