State 4-H Scholarships

The State 4-H Program in Oregon offers scholarships to college-bound high school seniors who are currently enrolled in the Oregon 4-H program, and have been members for a minimum of three years, including the current year.

2015 State 4-H Scholarship Summary 

2015 Scholarship availability and applications are being reviewed and revised.  New applications will be available by November 17, 2014.

Specific eligibility information for each scholarship can be found by clicking on the scholarship name, which links to the individual details for that scholarship. Applications must be approved and signed by the 4-H agent in your county Extension office.  Check with your local county Extension office to find out what their scholarship deadline date is. Counties will forward approved applications to the State 4-H office before the March 1st deadline.

 

Scholarships Available for Any Accredited College or University

Babe Coe Memorial Scholarship    

One $1000 scholarship 

Applicant must be from Crook, Deschutes, Grant, Jefferson or Wasco County

Requires Oregon 4-H Financial Need Form.

CHS Foundation Scholarship One $1000 scholarship
Duane P. Johnson 4-H Scholarship

One $500 scholarship

Attendance at any 4-year college or university

O.M. Plummer Scholarship

One $600 (approximate) scholarship

Essay should include information about participating in beef, sheep, swine and/or livestock judging

Jeanne Leeson Memorial 4-H Scholarship One $1250 scholarship
H. Joe Myers Memorial 4-H Scholarship Two $2500 scholarships

 

Scholarships Available for Attendance at Oregon State University

Martha MacGregor 4-H Scholarship

One $3500 Scholarship.  Requires attendance at OSU.

Klein-Youngberg Family 4-H Scholarship

Three $1250 scholarships.  Requires attendance at OSU.

Must have been in 4-H for at least five years

Oregon 4-H Foundation Memorial 4-H Scholarship One $1000 Scholarship.  Requires attendance at OSU.
Kate Thiess Memorial 4-H Scholarship One $1000 Scholarship.  Requires attendance at OSU.

Ted and Betty Dietz Memorial  4-H Scholarship

One $500 Scholarship.  Requires attendance at OSU.
Minnick Memorial 4-H Scholarship

One $500 Scholarship.  Requires attendance at OSU.

Preference to applicants with an agricultural background.

A. Lois Redman 4-H Scholarship

One $1200 Scholarship.  Requires attendance at OSU.

Preference given to candidates majoring in the College of Health and Human Sciences, Outdoor Education or International Programs.

Must be active in a Home Economics 4-H project area.

 

Scholarships Available for Former 4-H Members Who are Currently Attending Oregon State University

Judith K. Hofer Scholarship 

One $1500 scholarship to female OSU student currently majoring in Merchandising Management.

Must have been in 4-H program for at least five years.

Hofer Application due March 1 in State 4-H Office

College of Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Several scholarships for incoming and continuing students majoring in the College of Agriculture Sciences at Oregon State University. Scholarship application due to the College of Agriculture Sciences February 15,

 

Application Process

Application for the scholarships must be accompanied by a brief essay, a copy of high school grades, and a copy of official SAT or ACT scores. Detailed instructions about the essay are included on the scholarship application form . Applications are submitted to the applicant's County Extension Office by the due date established by the CountyAll applications must be approved and signed by the county 4-H agent, who then forwards approved applications with a county nomination form to the State 4-H Office by March 1.  Please be sure you meet eligibility criteria before selecting scholarships you are applying for.
